White House Summer Internship Application to be Posted on Nov. 19

West Harlem youth have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get a first hand glimpse into the Executive Office of the President of the United States.

The application for internships at the White House during the summer of 2013 will be posted on Nov. 19. The deadline to apply for the summer internship is Jan. 27. The internship runs from May 28 through Aug. 9, 2013.

Applicants must be 18-years-old or older when the internship begins and must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program or must have graduated in the past two years from a college, community college or university. Veterans of the United States Armed Forces who have a high school diploma or its equivalent and have served on active duty at any time in the past two years also may apply.

Interns are placed within one of 16 different departments of the White House. Work includes conducting research, managing incoming inquiries, attending meetings, writing memos and staffing events.

Interns participate in weekly speaker series, public service projects, professional development groups and a mentorship program. Internships are also available at other times during the year.
