We are pleased to announce that 13 boys and girls aged 6-9 years old have been selected to receive two-week scholarships to the the 2013 Roar-ee’s Cub Camp at Columbia University. The annual allotment of 25 weeks of scholarships is part of the commitments by Columbia University under the Community Benefits Agreement. This is the third year that WHLDC/WHDC is administering the Cubs-Camp.
The staff of WHDC conducted a wide range of outreach activities that resulted in 60 families applying for their children, the highest number of participation to date. Applicants had to qualify by being residents of West Harlem Community District 9. A lottery was held in the office of Community Board 9 that was witnessed by a member of the Community Board staff . All winning families were notified on May 8 and have been in the process of completing required documentation.
So from June 10 to August 9, 2013, the lucky children from CD9 will be jumping, swimming , dancing, and throwing all kinds of balls for fun and learning.
