Education and Youth Development
From 2013 through 2019, WHDC has made grant awards of $4.9 million to more than 60 nonprofit organizations to provide services in education and youth development.

In addition, WHDC has funded summer youth employment since 2011 for a total of $2.1 million through existing nonprofit programs and WHDC’s own ARISE! summer youth development program. The total number of youth who have benefitted is 1,807. These community youth work during the summer and are paid by WHDC. In 2017, WHDC added academic enrichment.
Nonprofit activities have centered on school-time and out-of-school time activities in tutoring, art, exposure to science, sports, scholarships, media development, and parental engagement, among many others.
