WHDC hosts Strategic Communications & Marketing workshop for local community leaders

West Harlem Development Corporation and Columbia’s School for Professional Studies was pleased to host a number of WHDC’s grantees and prospective organizations in the nonprofit sector for their second session in the Excellence in Nonprofit Management Workshop Series.
The topic for the second workshop was on Strategic Communication and Messaging, and was held at Columbia University’s Low Library on Tuesday, November 14th.
There was a growing number of executive directors, staff, and board members who attended and engaged in conversation, breakout sessions and Q&A on how to better serve their constituents and project their mission to the community.
Workshop Highlights Included:

  • Why does development of strategic messaging save you time, help you forge partnerships, and raise money more effectively?
  • How can board members use strategic communications to advance fundraising and strengthen relationships with community stakeholders who are essential to creating real change in our communities?
  • What are the key elements of external messaging, versus generic language used for grant writing?
